Zinc Roof Replacement

The main reason that zinc roofs need to be replaced is as a result of corrosion which damages the zinc sheets beyond the point where they can be repaired. Maintenance is vital on a zinc roof and should be conducted every 5-10 years to ensure the longevity of your roof.
If proper and regular maintenance is not conducted it leaves your roof susceptible to corrosion. Corrosion occurs due to the harsh elements that the roof is exposed to, namely rain, sun and wind. Moisture can enter your roof from a variety of places, such as through the screws, where the zinc sheets overlap, through flashings, or any other places that aren’t properly waterproofed. Underneath these layers lies a wooden structure that supports your roof, once the moisture reaches this point it starts to rot the wood, thus causes irreparable damage to the structure of the roof. By now you could imagine how big the financial burden would be if no maintenance were conducted. Not to worry, TREMCO is here to help.
Upon inspection by Tremco, we will assess your roof to see what is salvageable and what needs to be replaced. Zinc sheets need to be replaced when the corrosion has penetrated straight through the metal. While replacing your zinc sheets, it is advisable to repair/replace rotten or damaged brand-rings, as the rotten wood will affect the integrity of the structure of the roof.
Tremco uses a simple approach when conducting a roof replacement, we begin by only opening small sections of the roof. This ensures that should the weather take a turn, we are able to cover the exposed section, thus not causing further damage to the roof. Once we have replaced the damaged wood, we also provide the option to install insulation where needed, to secure the perfect temperature inside your home. If any ceiling boards need to be replaced, we will advise the client accordingly or the client may use their own ceiling contractor.
Once all the rotten wood has been replaced, we begin to install your new Zinc sheets, Tremco will fasten your new Zinc sheets with 8MM coach screws and bonded washes to the roof structure. Conducting a roof replacement usually takes between 5-10 working days depending on the size of the roof and weather.
Our clients also have the option to opt for a corrugated or a IBR profile, which may be made from a Chromadek or Colourplus range. These manufacturers offer their zinc sheets which are pre-painted to a colour of your choice they also include their own guarantee ranging from 10-20 years on their zinc sheets which will be made out directly to the customer.
Tremco offers a 5-year guarantee on our workmanship which may be extended for another 5 years once an inspection has been completed.
